Happy belated father’s day to my dad, my husband, and all the other daddies out there!
Yesterday was my husband’s first Father’s Day since the baby was born. Baby J is so lucky to have such a wonderful, attentive, loving daddy. And I’m so grateful to have such an amazing husband. Speaking of which… we’ll be celebrating our third wedding anniversary this week. It’s incredible how much our lives have changed over the last three years — in very good ways. Just look:
He really is such a joy. And — just to brag a bit — we are incredibly fortunate to have such a well-behaved baby. He’s so laid back! He only cries/fusses when he’s either hungry or tired. Otherwise, he’s all smiles! These days, he’s always studying and focusing — he really zeroes in on whatever he’s looking at and just soaks it all in. It’s fun to watch his personality start to show through more and more. He’s becoming more and more of a little person every day! It’ll be really interesting to see whether characteristics like these will always be part of who he is.
(Side note: This picture is actually from a couple of weeks ago. I really need to force the husband to let me take more pictures of him with the baby. We both forget to put ourselves in pictures, but one day we’re going to regret not having any pictures of ourselves from right now.)
We spent the weekend at my parents’ house and had a great time. My sister even joined us on Sunday, so the whole gang was together. We spent some valuable time together (my love language!) swimming, picnicking at the lake, watching a laser show, shopping at Costco, going to church (and showing off the baby)… but the definite highlight (for me, anyway) was making homemade peach ice cream on Sunday! We’ve declared it a new annual family tradition. It was so yummy! And it was hilarious when Baby J knocked over my mom’s bowl. (We figured he was jealous since he couldn’t have any.) And then minutes later, my sister spilled ice cream all over herself… Clearly those parfait dishes (as pretty as they are) are not very stable. Ha! We had a good laugh as a family — all six of us were cracking up.
All in all, a great weekend of celebration with family. I have so little to complain about these days! These really are the best days of our lives.
